Selected advisory and technical assignments delivered across Africa in climate finance, resilience planning and sustainable development.
ASCENT has provided advisory and technical support across Africa on climate finance, climate risk assessment, private sector engagement, and sustainable development planning. The following highlights selected consultancy assignments delivered in partnership with governments, development partners, and financial institutions.

Burundi – GCF Readiness Programme (2022–2023)

ASCENT drafted and supported implementation of a Green Climate Fund Readiness project designed to strengthen private sector engagement in a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy. The work was implemented with the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock and the Centre de Suivi Écologique.


Mali – GCF Readiness Support (2023–2026)

ASCENT drafted and supported implementation of Mali’s national readiness programme to mobilise private sector access to climate finance. The work focused on strengthening project pipelines and building national capacity to engage with the Green Climate Fund.


Senegal – Green Climate Finance Facility (2023–ongoing)

ASCENT drafted and refined an approved Green Climate Fund concept note establishing a climate finance facility designed to scale climate-smart agriculture investments across Senegal.


Burundi – GCF SAP017

ASCENT contributed to the development of the Green Climate Fund project Climate-Proofing Food Production Investments in the Imbo and Moso Basins, a programme designed to strengthen food security and climate resilience in Burundi.


Kenya – Climate Risk Assessment (2019)

ASCENT conducted climate risk assessments for sustainable urban drainage systems in Isiolo, Machakos and Malindi, helping municipalities integrate climate resilience into infrastructure planning and design.


Somaliland – Feasibility and Climate Risk Assessment (2024)

ASCENT conducted feasibility studies and climate risk assessments for small-scale business development initiatives in Somaliland, integrating climate resilience into SME investment planning.


Institutional Recognition

Ascent Climate Advisory is pre-qualified as a Green Climate Fund Readiness and Knowledge Management Partner under the Green Climate Fund Long-Term Agreements framework. This designation recognises ASCENT as an eligible delivery partner for readiness support across multiple countries.
